new things from this weekend

I have been remiss on posts about our garden this year, which is unfortunate because tons of great stuff is happening.

Here is a photo dump of all the things I worked on this weekend:

One forsythia is trimmed up
and the shaded overcrowded iris
has been replaced with shade lovers:
coral bells, columbine, and ajuga.
In the front garden bed,
I replaced the two scabiosa
that didn’t survive the winter,
and added some armeria.
Added marigold and dianthus border
to the side bed in the back garden.
The open space is waiting for dahlias to fill in.
The biggest dahlia so far.
Added orange French marigolds
to the yellow African marigolds
in the tomato bed.
Added yellow French marigolds
to the orange African marigold
in the tomato/tomatillo bed.
sowed additonal Chinese long beans
and dressed the bags
with petunias and dichondria.
Planted almost all of the Firey Bed O’ Death™ with orange and red habaneros,
Trinidad scorpions, Carolina reapers, megalith jalapeños, and space left
for ghost peppers.
Added on to the newest flower bed,
a closeup will show that the sunflowers
have started to sprout.
The newest lilies (l to r):
tiny comfort, tiny invader (orange flowers), and tiny chrystal.
Also added dichondria to the big urns
up in the side yard.

The lingering cool spring weather has made the last few weekend highly productive. It looks like we have another cool weekend next week…
